ENGR. MRS. MARY N. NWAKAMMA
[B.ENG, M.ENG {FUTO}; COREN, MNSE, MIEEE,MCPN]

is a corporate member of Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria
(COREN), Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Institute of Electrical Electronics
Engineers, Computer Professional of Nigeria, etc.

She holds Masters in Electrical Electronics Engineering (M. Eng.) having obtained her bachelor degree (B. Eng.) in Electrical Electronics Engineering at Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Currently a Ph.D Scholar in FUTO, having completed her course work, she is working on her Ph.D Thesis. She is a certified teacher, a Lecturer in Electrical Electronics Engineering Department since 2011, and currently the Head of ICT Directorate, Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri (FPNO).
Engr. Mrs. Mary N. Nwakamma is an erudite scholar. She has authored and coauthored many academic text books, published journals and peer reviewed journals. She has participated in several workshops, seminars and conferences within and outside the country and presented several conference papers. She was the Evening Program Supervisor (EPS) in the department of Electrical Electronics Engineering between 2017 and 2019, a post she held until she was appointed Head of ICT Directorate, FPNO in May, 2019. She has single-handedly piloted and driven the Smart Campus Vision of the Management of FPNO, Implementing and deploying Novel ICT Infrastructures and Projects for the Institution. She is currently the finance secretary of Annunciation Catholic Parish, Imo Housing, Owerri. She is a goal driven/resultoriented leader with the ability to maintain a productive atmosphere by mobilizing, motivating, and mentoring subordinates to achieve organizational goals.

She has impacted positively to the needy in her community and has also received numerous awards of excellence for her outstanding performances. To this end, she has distinguished herself in community services as:

2021: A letter of Recognition and Commendation from the Management of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri for her uncommon dedication to duty, exceptional drive, excellent performance and passionate commitment in the execution of her duties as Head of the ICT Directorate.
Some of her achievements are as follows:

  • Introduction of HND Screening Computer Based test (CBT) for HND Regular prospective students.
  • Achieved JAMB approval for CBT Center 1 and Center 2.
  • Achieved JAMB CBT Third Party Exams.
  • Design and implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Platform for the Institution.
  • Hostel Automation.
  • Monitoring, Implementation, and delivery of 155MBPS from MTN Nigeria through Fiber Optic link to the Network Operating Center (NOC).
  • Deployment and installation of Internet Protocol (IP) Surveillance Camera around the Campus.
  • Achieved the implementation of automated Online Screening of new students.
  • Virtual Learning (ELearning).
  • Attracted Subsidized HP laptops from Zinox Technologies.
  • Automation of the School’s Library.
  • Website upgrading, content management.
  • Achieved fully the implementation of ELearning Activities for both staff and students.
  • Achievement of one hundred Epads from Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Epad project for the Institution.
  • Electronic Voting for SUG, Academic Board and Congregation Elections
  • Annual Performance Evaluation Report (APER) Automation, E.T.C.

2021: Award of Honor from Bethel Baptist Church, Agbala as EAGLE MOTHER in recognition of her outstanding performance to God and Humanity.
2020: Award of Honor from Church of God Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Praise God Anglican Chaplaincy Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri as a UNIQUE MOTHER”, in recognition of her outstanding service and efforts towards the work of God and Humanity.

2017: Award of Honor from Brothers Forum, Nigeria Federation of Catholic Students (NIFES), All Saints Catholic Chaplaincy Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri as a DIVINE MOTHER, in recognition of her enormous contributions to the brother’s forum and the entire chaplaincy.

Engr. Mrs. Mary Nwakamma hails from Umuawaeke Umuevu Onicha by birth and Eziala Ihitte in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State by marriage. She is happily married to Dr. Gerald I. Nwakamma and the marriage is blessed with five (5) adorable
children. Above all, she is a lover of our Mother Mary and an ardent lover and a solemn member of the Sacred Heart of JESUS and Immaculate Heart of Mary, she professes Divine Mercy in the Catholic Faith.

ROLES AND FUNCTIONS OF THE DIRECTOR

  • Manage the deployment. Monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all ICT systems, including servers, personal computers, operating systems, telephones, software applications, and peripherals.
  • Set overall Information Technology security standards and maintain high level layers of IT security.
  • Oversee systems development and enhancement and the integration of new systems within existing systems.
  • Work with advocacy staff to develop strategies and plans to enhance client services, improve user effectiveness, and foster innovation.
  • Communicate regularly with executive management and all users of information services and systems.
  • Training and development of ICT staff.
  • Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
  • Develop and implement all ICT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
  • Manage servers, security solutions, network hardware and equipment.
  • Provide expert advice on vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and services agreements.
  • Support FPNO’s overall mission and follow all standards, policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Effective management of the Polytechnic’s Websites’ and email system.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Rector.
